Good evening crafters,
Today was a busy day at Craftrange, not only had I to finish stocktaking our jewellery section (ready for our new web site), Liz had deliveries to put on the shop floor from Creative Expressions, Crafters Companion and Personal Impressions ( I will tell you more about the exciting new stock we have soon!) but also it was the Thursday Coffee and Craft Club all day, where the ladies certainly keep us on our toes. Never a dull moment!
Of course, there were customers to serve too, one of which was Millie Moss, Millie has attended the Lindsay Mason workshops that we hold here at Craftrange and she returned home inspired to make this beautiful birthday gift for her friend.
She has used Maya Gold paints, Inka Gold waxes and the layered dragonfly by Tim Holtz. Wouldn’t you like a friend like Millie?
If you are interested in any workshops or products please ring the store on 01282 833091. Our web site is currently being updated so if you would like anything posting out please ring the same number.
Carry on crafting,
Hope you are all well on this lovely Tuesday morning, it looks a chilly but lovely day outside.
I am going to play this week with all things ranger and Tim Holtz, I am a great fan of these products – I love them all.
I have gathered a few items and hopefully later today I am going to clear the craft desk to gather some thoughts on what I am going to do. I am going to start with the bare clock.
As I get on I will take photos and blog along the way.
Christmas Wall Art
Fabulous Vintage Christmas Papers
Distress Ink – Cranberry and Lettuce
Distress Glitter Lettuce – Really Loving the Distress Glitters, its like sugar.
Craftrange’s Special Grey Board
Cosmic Shimmer Drys Clear Glue
Red Line Tape
Really simple, cut your grey board down to 6″x12″ you need two of these.
Decorate each panel as you desire. I used the fabulous Father Christmas on one side and a plain’ish paper on the other.
Apply Lettuce Distress Ink all over the Reindeer, go over the whole reindeer with Glossy Accents and add bits of the distress glitter in small areas to parts of the reindeer. Leave to Dry – overnight if possible.
Paint cosmic shimmer drys clear glue onto the aplhabet and cover with distress glitter, patting the glitter down to secure and leave to dry.
You will need to cut 2 x small strips from the grey board roughly 12″ x 1 1/2″ and decorate with paper.
Go round the edges of your panels with cranberry distress ink (roughly, this does not need to be perfect)
Once you are happy with your panels place the on the table upside down and stick with red line tape the two 12″ x 1 1/2″ strips to the back to secure the whole wall art.
Now that you have everything attached you are ready to attach your reindeer and alphabet, you can either secure with glue or use foam pads to give depth. Add your large gem to the snowflake to create the O in Noel, and decorate to your taste with any other gems that you like.
To hang this project up, I used string that I platted I used 3 lengths of string and platted – I did this 3 times so that I ended up with 3 platted lengths then platted those 3 together. It took time but I think that is was worth it. Attach this to the back on the outer edges with red line tape TaDah your now ready to hang.
Hope you enjoy making this, I know that I did.
What have you all been up to today?
Well today I would like to share with you another Christmas Card! Using my favourite products from Ranger.
Tim Holtz Christmas Stamp Set
Adirondack Inks (Lettuce and Cranberry)
Archival Ink (Black)
8″X8″ Card (White)
Die Cut Circle
Black Gloss Card
1. Place your die cut circle centrally onto a 7″sq piece of ultra smooth card and stamp round with the poinsettia stamp to create a wreath in you desired colour pallet. When you remove the circle you will be able to go in and add more poinsettia to even it up.
2. Using the same Adirondack inks that you have chosen, take a blending tool and distress the middle of the wreath and the outer edges of the card. To get the lines in the middle I randomly added the same colour pallet that I had used to the edge of an acrylic block and stamped into the centre. You could achieve this same effect with a ruler or use a crackle stamp to add depth.
When you are happy with your wreath
3. Stamp the Gentleman and Merry Christmas Stamp in Archival Ink.
4. Matt the finished piece onto 7 1/2″ sq piece of black gloss card, then mount onto your 8″sq card. Finally add some black gems to the centre of the ribbon on the gentleman’s wreath and top left/bottom right to some of the centres on the flowers.
TaDa All Done
If you do have a go at this please send me some photos then we can put them on here. I may do another of these in a different colour pallet and put glossy accents on the Gentleman.
Well today I get to meet two fabulous designers – Tim Holtz and Dyan’s Reaveley. Love their work and now can’t wait to get started.
At home http://www.craftrange.com have a fabulous workshop with Linda showing everyone brayering techniques. Linda has a full class this morning and I just know everyone will love it.
Will update you on my workshop hopefully with photos. Went for an hour in the pool last night it was great, it’s been years since I was in a swimming pool even though I spent most of it in the jacuzzi ! Although I have to say I thought I could swim better than I did lol great tidal waves occurred – I was glad no one knew me although half of the time I had the pool to myself.
Hope you all have a great day.
Hope you have all had a great bank holiday weekend. I am now on the train, travelling to Coventry tomorrow I am attending a workshop with Sir Tim (Mr Tim Holtz himself) I am thrilled to be attending and can’t wait until tomorrow morning when the workshop starts. Dyan Reaveley is also teaching (love Dyan’s work). Here at http://www.craftrange.com we stock a large selection of Ranger products that include Tim’s & Dyan’s products.
Yesterday was productive – Lots planned, all crafting of course, until my husband decided to silo (cut grass and bring it in for the cows winter feed). I love silo time, I drove round on the quad most of the Afternoon handing out cold drinks, it was so hot but I got plenty of breeze with driving up and down.
I enjoyed London last week and will post photos on here later in the week. We have just stopped at Wolverhampton – hope I don’t miss my stop as this train is going to London Euston. Well that’s it for now, I am sure I will have plenty to say after the workshop tomorrow night. I Am leaving you with photos from another walk.

Enjoy your day
The weather is back to normal I see, but never mind its an ideal day to stay in and craft. Every cloud has a silver lining!
I had a wonderful day here at Craftrange on Saturday. I was given the challenge of demonstrating Spellbinders. Where to start – with the Media Mixage of course! My inspiration was bubbling over from all the tips and ideas that I gained from Ken Oliver when he visited our store recently.
I started by cutting the Spellbinder foil with a Spellbinder die and as one side of the foil is coloured and the reverse silver, I coloured the silver side with Adirondack Alcohol inks. When the ink was dry I embossed the shape in a Sue Wilson Embossing Folder.I then used a sanding block to remove the colour and go back to the silver. My first dilemma was which side to use, the embossed or debossed side. I loved them both.
Next I used a Frantage Encrusted Jewel Kit to create four layers to fit inside the Spellbinder Bezel. I used the Teal Colour Fragments, Teal Mica Flakes, Aged Teal Embossing Powder, Sky Blue Embossing Powder and Detail Capri Embossing Powder. Sounds lush doesn’t it?
Before filling the bezel with Ice Resin I cut the back off a Large Curved Petal Flower Charm and placed that along with a diamante on top of the layers and then I waited for the resin to set.
I could then go to town with Gilding Flakes, Duo Embellishing Adhesive, Glossy Accents, Tim Holtz Tissue Tape, Accent Beads, Self Adhesive Pearls, Steampunk Style Patterned Heart Charm, Feathers, Ribbons and Cords. From my Jewellery findings I used Head Pins, Oval Jump Rings, Chain, Bails, Seed Beads, e Beads and Glass Beads. You can use what ever takes your fancy just let your imagination run wild.
